As an aspiring Fashion Stylist/Blogger there are a few things that are not “seen” by the naked eye. It takes more than some skill, or a gift. Sometimes I hear music in my head, and right now the song I hear for this post is, ‘It’s Gonna Take A Miracle,’ by Deniece Williams.
There are painstaking moments as a Fashion Stylist where you feel like, this is taking a toll on my body! Is this really what I signed up for? How long do I NEED to be here for these wardrobe changes? Is the time really moving that fast? And any other thoughts that may rummage through your mind as you prepare for the next look on “your show.” But you persevere because you have a passion deep inside for this job. It also feels like what someone once told me, “It’s more than just passion, it’s where passion meets purpose.” Now that’s worth it!
You’ve come to terms with what comes when working for a company or even celebrities. Long days & nights, you’ll have little to no social life (if you’re in really deep), and YOU are “The Stylists, The Go To Gal/Guy.” Everyone needs you, because perception is a hell of a drug! People who watch the shows/celebrities almost never see your face, although that part isn’t too bad. The audience has come to understand your view, they “know” you for your sensible eye, fashionable style, on the mark delivery, and that’s what’s really important. It’s imperative that you stay on top of trends, color palettes, shoes, bags, accessories, etc. etc. HUH, running around is a cake walk compared the amount of moving and shaking that is required of you behind the scenes. Everyday there’s something new, each with it’s own challenges. Hopefully you’ve taken Psych 101 for the amount of personalities that you’ll have to come encounter with daily, or ELSE! May not be nice, but it is surely TRUE. *Slaps knee* 🙂 🙂 Being a ‘Fashion Stylist’ will require more from you than you thought you were willing to give, but YOU will win. I WILL win. So will this guy…
If he looks familiar, that’s because he is! Angelo is from my Unexpected Surprise post a couple of weeks ago.
I had such a great & inspirational time at QVC with Angelo, the Fashion Stylist that I asked for his permission to tell a brief story about what he’s currently up to/responsible for as a stylist at QVC, and he said YES. Yay Me!
Elle: Hi, Angelo! Can you please tell me what shows you are executively responsible for at QVC as of lately?
Angelo: Hi, Elle. My shows are Inspired Style @7pm EST on Monday evenings, then Inspired Style again on Fridays @1 am EST, and lastly Fashionably Late @10pm EST on Fridays. Those shows are my static shows that I take full ownership/responsibility for as a stylist.
Elle: Sounds awesome! How does this make you feel? Are you anxious, nervous, a little bit of both?
Angelo: I’m really excited for the new line up on Mondays particularly. It’s something new that the company (QVC) is trying every Monday night beginning @7pm with Inspired Style (my show), the amazing host is Amy Stran. This Monday night line up is where QVC will place their new contemporary fashions and accessories in. This is a new look into Monday nights and fashion at the Q. The company is looking to bring in new customers, like the younger generation to experience new ways to shop. They want to attract new customers, as well as keep the existing customers coming back each week to see the new products that QVC has to offer.
Elle: It all sounds exciting, I’m sure that you are super busy! Lol. How much creative control do you have on these shows of yours? Because I know that you are styling the models, as well as the host. How does that work?
Angelo: It works out well for me! I have a lot of creative freedom styling for the shows, and I enjoy that very much.
Elle: Alrighty then! Are there any other show/hosts that you work with @QVC that you’d like for the readers/me to check out?
Angelo: Sure, I also work closely with the following host for all of their shows:
- Albany Irvin
- Amy Stran
- Courtney Cason
- Alberti Popaj
- Jacque Gonzales
Each of these host have their own niche in the company, and it’s my job to make their brand fit each show.
Elle: You truly are The Go To Guy! It must feel great. 🙂 Last, but certainly not least, what else would you like for the wonderful readers of WordPress to know about you/QVC?
Angelo: The new Mondays on QVC started March 2nd and are called “Fashion’s Night In.”
- Inspired Style @7pm
- LOGO w/Lori Goldstein @8 pm
- Isaac Mizrahi Live @9pm
- PM Style w/Shawn Killinger @10 pm
Elle: Well thank you, Angelo. Just like a professional stylist to be exact & to the point! I really appreciate you taking the time out for me to blog about you. Lol!
Angelo: No problem. With Style, Angelo
I’d like to take this time to thank Angelo C. Vellucci for his time. It took several emails to get this done, but it finally happened!
As always, I hope that you all enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it.
I am in no way affiliated with QVC, nor have I been paid in any form. This is something that I wanted to do after my visit to their building, so I went out and did it. I’m just an aspiring fashion stylist/blogger who appreciates other stylists, companies that seem to treat their employees with dignity & respect, and I wanted to share that with you all.
By the way, has anyone found their “Waldo” in real life, or the Waldo from up top? PLEASE comment and let me know if you’ve found it/him, or that you enjoyed your visit!
