Guest Features in Fashions for Now: Next Up!

Hi, fellow bloggers, friends, & lovers of reading! I do hope that you don’t miss the weekend too much! For us in Philadelphia, it’s been a four day weekend, Popemania all over town. Hopefully the beginning of your work week is treating you well, nonetheless!

After a VERY long , yet productive break, I’ve returned, and this was quite a feat for me. I say this because of the love of this brand. If there was any brand that I believe deserves recognition for their current design aesthetic, it’s this company. I love to see apparel lines take shape with their conviction & style right before your eye. Another beautiful thing about the designer that I’m highlighting for this “episode” designs for both men and women! *Drools a little* Can I just say that anyone who knows me, knows that I love menswear just as much (if not more at times) as women’s wear. Thus the long wait “shopping” the internet and in Photoshop to get these looks as right as possible in my mind for this post.

With all of that being said, the wait has been long enough! Next up is…

Henry Holland of House of Holland

Here’s the kicker with the HOH (House of Holland) collections, I absolutely LOVE almost every single article of clothing inside of them. Henry’s ode to self is quite evident. The HOH collection is a tailored (so London), yet edgy (New York kind), and still makes whom ever is wearing it feel Unique, Cool, GOOD and believe it or not Polished. Who does this?! And does it so well, Henry Holland of HOH.

I desperately would love to wear this designer at least 5 days maybe even more out of a week, to be honest with you all. This is why it proved to be quite difficult when it came for me to pick and choose articles of clothing, therefore I’ll be doing this post VERY different from my last.

However, I do leave room for us to agree to disagree. Once you’ve actually gone to the HOH site, or inside the actual store, and still beg to differ. ABSOLUTELY  leave me a Comment, so that we can talk. 🙂 I’m certain that Henry has at least one article of clothing/accessory for EVERYONE’S taste level.

Now go and explore, have fun, and above all make it a great week!

As always, I sincerely hope that you’ve enjoyed this post! That I was supposed to post yesterday, YIKES!!

Presenting: Guest Feature in Fashions for Now

In honor of all the wonderful future fashions going on all over world, and the presently adorable, edgy, and fairly expensive lines that are out and available today. I’ve decided to do little dedications throughout the week (maybe longer, who knows with me)! Now the designers that I’m featuring are all mostly high end, although I’ve added some low end pieces. Because we should all look expensive no matter what we’ve paid for our items of clothing or accessories.

However, I’ll try my very best to have lux looks covered in different budgets for the next couple weeks, so do not fret. JUST try to grin and bear it until then, please! 😉 Now let’s get through this present quest happily and most of all fashionably frugal. Depending on your budget for these next few designers it will not be so frugal, but I like what I like, and love what I love. So maybe we’ll be happily fashionable in our journey through today’s honorable guest.

Who just happens to be….

Marc Jacobs

Here we go, look Number 1.

Because it’s still on and off warm/hot, and we really don’t want summer to end. I’ve added two looks to end the summer (up North anyway) off cute and classy!!

What she’s wearing is HYPERLINKED;

Shirt: Mark Jacobs, Skirt: Marc Jacobs, Unsmiley Face Bag: Marc Jacobs, Watch: is also Marc Jacobs, but sold out. Link is a close match, Earrings: Charming Charlie, Sneakers: Chuck Taylors @Kohls

Look Number 2 is one of my favorites. Effortless beauty, upscale yet comfortable.  With the switch of a heal and eye makeup, you can transition from day to night easy!

What she’s wearing is HYPERLINKED;

Dress: Marc Jacobs, Purse: Marc Jacobs, Watch: Marc Jacobs, Earrings: Charming Charlie, but sold out too. Link is a pretty close match. Necklace: Charming Charlie, Shoes: Michael Kors

Look Number 3 is taking us right into my favorite season of all time, Autumn! I love everything about this outfit, starting with the color palette. Second thing would have to be the back view with zipper detail. Yes, lawd! Lastly would have to be that it’s some of everything from everywhere. That’s how I shop in real life, and am glad that I have the chance to show how I’d do it with Mo Money, Mo Money, Mo Money. Hahahaha. Super hype with it, I am!!

One More

What she’s wearing is HYPERLINKED;

Sweater (Front & Back View): Marc Jacobs, Satchel: Marc Jacobs, Shirt: House of Holland, Pants: Levi’s @Kohls, Watch: Marc Jacobs, Earrings: Charming Charlie, Boots: Timberland

Look Number 4 is by far my Most Favorable. This look really makes me feel like she’s stylish, but relatable. Not too casual, but not too fashionable either. I dig her play on expensive tailoring, but also will take a ride on an ATV if the day takes her there. You Go Girl!!

What she’s wearing is HYPERLINKED;

Wool Coat: Marc Jacobs, Sweater: Marc Jacobs, Pants: Levi’s @Kohls, Backpack: Marc Jacobs, Watch: Marc Jacobs, Earrings: Charming Charlie, Necklace: Charming Charlie, Boots: Timberland

There you have it, and let me tell you, I want it all! There are Sssooooo many more Awesome pieces on Marc Jacobs’ Official website I could die in there! Although I wouldn’t live to show you our next guest, and give you what I’ve been working on. I guess I’ll live. Hope to you come back for more.

And as always, I hope that you’ve enjoy this post.

Please comment and share what you feel!

 Love and Success go hand in hand, in my humble opinion. Let me tell you why…

When you have a love for someone/thing, it will drive you like no other. Pushes you when you are feeling weak, embraces you when you’re low, and helps you to see obstacles clearly, so you make wise choices. Some may even call that passion! You see, this passion for the/that thing you love invigorates you to receive more of that love because the love feels so good. And in the words of Teddy Pendergrass, it feels good loving somebody/thing and that somebody/thing loves you back. I’m talking really good.

Oh, and let me be clear of  this “thing” that I’m talking about, it’s not an object, it’s a skill set that you possess. Be it a chef, public speaker, writer, caregiver, teacher, and so forth. Once you’ve identified it within yourself, you begin working hard not only for you, but for the thing(s) that you love & that are loving you back! You understand that it’s loving you back when people are sending compliments to the chef, telling you how well you spoke and how inspirational you are, also as people read what you’ve written and want more of it, and so on and so on. You get it! You like it! You have to have more!

This is a great place to be, as well as scary. Now you feel high and low all in one swoop. You want to do more, but you secretly feel pressure. Am I good enough, will this work, is it too much, what if I fail, what if I become extremely successful? All valid questions, but there  is no room for that in this stage of where we’re going. Turn that nervous energy into something special for your supporters, your lovers, your passion! We are only as good as our what we put out that day/week/month/year, therefore let’s continue to cultivate what we have been blessed with fearlessly! Our success depends on it, and really true love will help you along on this journey.

I wish  us all the very best, and as always I hope that you enjoyed this post! 🙂

How I feel every single time I get back from purchasing new fabrics!

Never a dull moment with Kelis, I imagine. And I GET IT! This song is how I FEEL when I sit down and begin to go through the motions immediately after I purchase fabric. There are so many different takes on any type of art. And as an artist you notice that everyone has an opinion on what should be done with Your Gift. Lol! 🙂 I say depending on who you are I may go with it, I may not.

For example, if I build homes I’ll most likely have a blueprint for the layout, I’ll know all about how to frame the home out, fix (or contact someone for) any plumbing or electrical issues etc.  I would surely know how to install floors, installation, and so forth. Now when the home is complete, I may feel it’s necessary for me to invest my time and/or money on an Interior Designer. Not that I’m in any way incapable of doing it myself, I’m just wise enough to know that if I’m going to sell/rent this house quickly, I should have someone come in who studied & knows that field to help assist me. That’s just a no brainer to me, but the overall craftsmanship of the home is still MINE. I’ve completed and also assigned to whomever what I felt represented me, or the future homeowners in this particular house. The quality of work will be beyond standard, and it should also make the buyer feel elated! Like they’ve gotten their money’s worth. As they should.

That’s how I see art/fashion/film/construction etc. etc. We are not all the same. We’re not all shaped the exact way. We don’t all have the same taste. We don’t all look alike. We are all unique in one way or another. You don’t move like I do, and that is AWESOME! So why would I put you, myself, or anyone else for that matter in a one size/style/image fits all category? The thought of that just boggles my mind.

My humble advice is try to be free, be smart, be cautious, be loving, be different, be brave, be open, be you, be loud, be quiet, and just live a little already. Everything we see on a daily basis, isn’t really as it appears.

As always, I hope that you enjoyed. Please feel free to comment, I enjoy reading/replying to them all!  🙂

Despite all Odds

10[1]There’s something about tailored Menswear that just sends my heart to a warm place. It sort of feels like the sun’s rays are directly on my entire body. Sensations of happiness, mixed in with drowsiness, because sitting out long enough in the summer’s sun will do that to one. Ironically, being in a relationship with a man has the same effect. Lol! 🙂 Nevertheless, I still can’t help but continue to soak it all in, muscle through the pain that is sure to follow if I don’t get up soon. From a very early age, I remember looking at well-groomed adults and thinking, “They look really nice!” You know that “look” from the 40’s & 50’s, right? Sharp, clean, tailored, dresses, suits, suspenders, sweaters, and shoes. Ooh, wee! Never mind the fact that it was not an ideal time for anyone who was of color, or that citizens had little to no say of their attire because of the way “government” subliminally had the majority of say in what you wore back then. As I think about it, not too much has seemed to have changed. Although this is not the time for that conversation, but definitely the place! Take my hand, and let us CONTINUE

A Girl Can Dream

There are few things in life that can distract me. One of those things is a runway show that just shoots life into my veins, similar to heroin. The other being Candy Crush SAGA, damn that game! *Throws hands up into the air* And as unfortunate as that may sound. It’s true. What am I going to do? *Shrugs shoulders*  There’s a bright side to everything, it could always be worse. 🙂

My intentions were to share with you all a little of Balmain PARIS’s Fall/Winter 2015-16 RTW(ready to wear) collection, as well as a little of H&M’s F/W 2015-16 RTW collection. It REALLY was, although after gathering my emotions from the Balmain show. My hat went off to Oliver Rousteing’s creative genius behind this ensemble of clothing he prepared for our viewing pleasure.

Oh, of course as any aspiring anything, we somehow find a way to absolutely LOVE what we cannot have at that moment. Is Balmain PARIS in my budget? Heck to the NO! But “A Girl Can Dream”, can’t I? Now H&M is heavy in my closet and drawers. I mean really, you could break your back with all of the different stuff that’s from H&M in this house! Here’s the thing though, my mouth watered just a little while watching the Balmain show yesterday. And to be honest with you all, the H&M collection is outstanding! It will most likely end up in my house with the rest of their items scattered around this place. Reason being H&M is in fact in my budget. Lol!

Here’s just a little smidgen of what H&M shared with us yesterday.

Not bad at all, right? I can see myself in at least seven/eight different articles of clothing.                                                                                                                                                                          All of the H&M images are from Harper’s Bazaar’s magazine website. I claim no ownership.

Okay, ENOUGH already, let me begin to share with you why I feel Oliver of Balmain’s collection had to get a majority of this post, and hopefully H&M will have their time to shine in a post of mine some time next week. *That is if someone hasn’t already beaten me to it*  Opening credits are on now, let’s all put on our bib as we get to all of this absolute fashion beauty. *Rubs hands together with a slight devilish grin*

The show is now set to begin. I have the gallery set up to two different views, all are my personal favorites. The first show will display how effortlessly the fabric flowed down the runway, and the second will show the structure of the other garments. This is just a peek of what was actually on the runway. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did/do!

Did you like it? Or did I hype it up too much for your taste? I really enjoyed it! Whelp, I hope that you all got something out of it, that is my wish. 🙂

Last picture, here’s Oliver Rousteing who is the creative director and (I BELIEVE) part owner of Balmain PARIS.

All Balmain PARIS images are from VOUGE magazine’s website. I claim no ownership.

Small S/O to another blogger JILW-B life is poetry for guiding me to images for this post.

As always, thank you for your time!

Styling for You

Alright now, it’s about that time where everyone who lives up North (or as of late any State experiencing extreme cold), but specifically up North is anticipating for the weather to break. The sun will begin to stay out a little longer, and we won’t need to be more layered than an onion! I can honestly say that I am one of those people right now. Oh, HAPPY DAY!!

As for me, I love to get dressed no matter what the weather. Although, there is something about the Spring & Fall that get me really excited! Now I’m not one to dress for trends. I tend to buy clothes that are versatile throughout my wardrobe. I am definitely known to mix and match, and I strongly suggest that to anyone who may ask me. I LOVE color, prints, and an overall pretty clean look. I respect anyone willing to go out of the box with their style, but it has to be age appropriate, in your current dress size (please don’t get me started on too small or too big clothing), and seem effortless. Clothing should have some personality I believe as well. I mean we are people who are in the clothes after all. A little stain here or there, (not a HUGE one in the middle of your shirt or underarms)! Maybe a small thread “hanging ten”. Little things that say, hey it’s clean, I’m clean, we’ve just been through some good times and I’m not trying to forget them just yet. Lol 🙂 Because to me anytime it may appear as if you are trying too hard, I say no to that.

I really don’t believe that there is a right or wrong when it comes to style. Unless it’s just horrifying and inappropriate. I would rather not see butt cheeks, butt crack, too much leg, too much breast. Etc. etc. Some things should be left to the imagination or your partner. Again my personal, humble opinion! Style should represent your personality, it should be comfortable (or relatively comfortable if you’re talking to a woman). Why do us women sometimes sacrifice comfort for beauty? Sheesh. Getting back to the matter at hand, it should also reflect the way you want to be treated!No matter your age getting dressed in my humble opinion should speak without you saying a word about who you are, and what you stand for in life.

For example, I’ll use me. Why not?

Here’s a look that I would wear on let’s just say Thursday. It’s almost the weekend, but not quite. I’ll throw in some nail polish options and all. I might go with all three color incorporating a design on a few of my finger nails. Just to give you an overall picture of this woman. I may change, as a matter of fact, I WILL change into flats at some point throughout the day. Nevertheless, this is a reflection of something that I would wear on any given day. Tell me what you think.

What do you think of this woman? No seriously, I would like to know.  Is she saying that she’s a professional, is she playful, does she have children, does she enjoy life, is she too serious, does she know how to entertain? What are your honest, kind, and genuine thoughts? Can you imagine this woman on a Friday going out to dinner with her husband, or significant other dressed like this (down below)? Does your mind allow you to believe that she’s the same intelligent, friendly, down to earth woman/mother from the day before?

As you ponder to get your thoughts together about this woman, and please let me know. Take some time to think about the message that you are sending with what you’re wearing right now. How does(n’t) it reflect the person that you are today, or striving to be in the very near future?  😉

Thank you for your time, and as always…
