Guest Features in Fashions for Now: Next Up!

Hi, fellow bloggers, friends, & lovers of reading! I do hope that you don’t miss the weekend too much! For us in Philadelphia, it’s been a four day weekend, Popemania all over town. Hopefully the beginning of your work week is treating you well, nonetheless!

After a VERY long , yet productive break, I’ve returned, and this was quite a feat for me. I say this because of the love of this brand. If there was any brand that I believe deserves recognition for their¬†current design aesthetic, it’s this company. I love to see apparel lines take shape with their conviction & style right before your eye. Another beautiful thing¬†about the designer that I’m highlighting for this “episode” designs for both men and women! *Drools a little* Can I just say that anyone who knows me, knows that I love menswear just as much (if not more at times) as women’s wear. Thus the long wait “shopping” the internet and¬†in Photoshop to get these looks¬†as right as possible¬†in my mind for this post.

With all of that being said, the wait has been long enough! Next up is…

Henry Holland of House of Holland

Here’s the kicker with¬†the HOH¬†(House of Holland) collections, I absolutely LOVE almost every single article of clothing inside of them. Henry’s ode to self is¬†quite evident. The HOH collection is a tailored (so London), yet edgy (New York kind), and still makes whom ever is wearing it feel Unique, Cool, GOOD and believe it or not Polished. Who does this?! And does it so well, Henry Holland of HOH.

I desperately would love to wear this designer at least 5 days maybe even more out of a week, to be¬†honest with you all. This is why it proved to be quite difficult when it came for me to pick and choose articles of clothing, therefore I’ll be doing this post VERY different from my last.

What they’re wearing is HYPERLINKED;

Denim Jean Jacket: HOH, Snake Print Joggers: HOH, Lace Crop Top: Lush Top @Bloomingdales, Necklace: Charming Charlie, Sunglasses: HOH, Tricks Clutch: HOH, Leather Slip On Sneakers: Aldo

Zig-Zag Trousers: HOH, M.F.P. Chest Tee: HOH, Belt: Salvatore Ferragamo @Bloomingdales, Watch: Marc Jacobs, Sunglasses: HOH, Chukka Sneakers: TOMS @Bloomingdales.

HOH is KILLING the game! Which¬†can also be thought of as an understatement in my personal opinion, and isn’t that what blogging is ALL about! Personal opinions. However, I do leave room for us to agree to disagree. Once you’ve actually gone to the HOH site, or inside the¬†actual store,¬†and¬†still beg to differ. ABSOLUTELY ¬†leave me a Comment, so that we can talk. ūüôā¬†I’m certain that Henry has at least one article of clothing/accessory for EVERYONE’S taste level.

Now go and explore, have fun, and above all make it a great week!

As always, I sincerely hope that you’ve enjoyed this post! That I was supposed to post yesterday, YIKES!!

Ttyl,

PEACE.

Kohl’s Haul ’15

Hi, again! kohls logoSo back in March, the 27th to be exact I went to Kohl’s to do some shopping on their special sale date to add-on to the coupons that I already had on hand for some additional savings. I did not expect to end my haul with such Big Savings!

If you’ve really read my posts on where I shop, you already know that Kohl’s is a staple store in our household. I’ve been shopping there for approximately 9 to 10 years, but in the last 3-4 years Kohl’s has proven to not let me down more than some of my other favorite stores hands down. That’s why I always return. I’ll explain how and why now…

Doorbusters, Early Bird/Late Night Deals/Specials, Big Deals:¬†However they choose to word it at¬†Kohl’s is their preference. What it means to the customer is that you’ll save at¬†least¬†20-50% off of retail price on an¬†item in store, from home d√©cor to fragrance to clothing. I’m listening, keep going!

Clearance: Kohl’s get’s new inventory it seems to me like every three months, it may be sooner than that, but it’s too much to keep up with. That means the clearance is always being restocked as well. Most of the time not even out of season/trend and highly discounted, about 60-85% off of retail price. Not bad, continue.

Design Nation: This is when a High End Designer teams up with Kohl’s to give us ready to wear (RTW) articles of clothing within the Kohl’s customer’s budget. It’s kind of a big deal. H&M, Target, and other stores do this¬†from time to time to attract a new/young/fresh buyer into their store. It almost always works! Let’s move on…

Kohl’s Charge Card: Now this is for responsible individuals only! By having a Kohl’s charge you get additional savings/percentages mailed to your home, about 10-12 times a year I believe. One of those savings being promotional, meaning you’ll get in the mail $10 off of $30 spent on men’s clothing, or $10 off of $40 spent on juniors clothing, or even $30 off of $100 spent in the¬†home d√©cor department. The other savings/percentages being 15, 20 or 30% off of your total price at the end.¬†The thing is,¬†you can only get the extra percentage¬†savings if you use the charge card. The promotional ones you can use whatever form of money you please. So how I use my charge card is, buy with what money I know that I’m willing to spend, swipe the card,¬†and then pay it off right there in store same day! BE RESPONSIBLE.

Kohl’s Emails/Apps: If you know that you aren’t ready¬†for a charge card, you can just sign up for emails or their app. That way they email you about 6-10 times a year a chance to save 15-20% off of and entire purchase, they’ll¬†also¬†keep you informed of¬†sales/clearances,¬†and online only savings. Sometimes on a very rare chance everyone signed up for email alerts get’s a chance to win 30-40% off of a total price. But again that’s like super rare.

Kohl’s Cash: The best thing ever! For every $50 spent you get $10 Kohl’s Cash. This opportunity happens a lot throughout the year I must say. So¬†the time to earn KC¬†is for about 1 week, you shop, rack up some Kohl’s Cash, and then the very next week you get 2 weeks to spend your KC. Sounds pretty good thus far, no?

YES TO YOU Rewards; This is fairly new to Kohl’s. You sign up, kind of like email/charge card, but you don’t get any emails or a credit card. Actually it’s more like a grocery card, for every $1 you get 1 point, $100 gets you 100 points, so now you qualify to¬†get $5 off your next purchase. It’s low-key awesome. Everyone can get one, and it’s¬†relatively¬†harmless. I like it! I like savings though. ūüôā

Entire Family/Home Store; I get a lot of stuff from here for the whole family, as well as for our home. Food processors, bedding, candles, accessories, sneakers, shoes, bags, so much more.

Here’s the best part¬†of it all! Are you ready? You can combine all of the savings in one trip! The sale/promotion/clearance that Kohl’s has going on, you’re percentage off coupon, whatever promotional savings that they’ve mailed to your home, and still earn Kohl’s Cash if you’ve managed to spend over $50. WHAT!?! Most stores do not allow you to combine savings, that’s why Kohl’s is dominating the market on the low! And to end it off with some icing on this freshly baked cake (if you’re into that kind of thing). You can take back anything that you are unsatisfied with for any reason, at anytime, and get your money back. I just died. I absolutely love this store.

Now without further ado, here are some pics and then a video.

These next three photos go with this video that I uploaded explaining a little of what I got into full detail about here on the blog. Check it out to see what happened, and how much we spent/saved!!

As always I hope that you all the enjoyed this post, and I thank you for your time!

Peace

SCREAM

How I feel every single time I get back from purchasing new fabrics!

Never a dull moment with Kelis,¬†I¬†imagine.¬†And I¬†GET IT!¬†This song¬†is how¬†I FEEL when I sit down and begin to go through the motions immediately after I¬†purchase fabric. There are so many different takes on any type of art.¬†And as an artist you¬†notice that everyone has an opinion on what should be done¬†with Your Gift. Lol! ūüôā¬†I say depending on who you are I¬†may go with it, I may not.

For example, if I build homes I’ll¬†most likely have a blueprint for¬†the layout, I’ll¬†know all about how to frame the home out,¬†fix (or contact someone for)¬†any plumbing or electrical issues etc.¬† I would surely know how to install floors, installation, and so forth. Now¬†when¬†the home is complete, I may feel it’s necessary for me to¬†invest¬†my time and/or¬†money on¬†an¬†Interior Designer. Not that I’m in any way¬†incapable of doing it myself, I’m just wise enough to know that¬†if I’m going to sell/rent this house quickly, I should have someone come in¬†who studied & knows that field to help assist me. That’s just a no brainer to me, but the overall craftsmanship of the home is¬†still MINE. I’ve completed¬†and also¬†assigned to whomever¬†what¬†I felt represented¬†me, or the future¬†homeowners in this particular house. The quality of work will be beyond standard,¬†and it¬†should also¬†make the buyer feel elated! Like¬†they’ve gotten their money’s worth. As they should.

That’s¬†how I see art/fashion/film/construction etc. etc.¬†We are not all the same.¬†We’re not all shaped the exact way. We don’t all have the same taste. We don’t all¬†look alike.¬†We are all unique in one way or another. You don’t move like I do, and that is AWESOME! So why would I¬†put you, myself, or anyone else for that matter¬†in a one size/style/image fits all category? The thought of that just boggles my mind.

My humble advice is try to be free, be smart, be cautious, be loving, be different,¬†be brave, be open, be you, be loud, be quiet, and just live a little already. Everything we see on a daily basis, isn’t really as it appears.

As always, I hope that you enjoyed. Please feel free to¬†comment, I enjoy reading/replying to them all! ¬†ūüôā

WhAt ArE yOu GoInG tO dO?

No matter how hard I try to embrace my imperfections they still find a way to humble me even more. I mean we all make mistakes! Why does it bother¬†ME so¬†much¬†when I do? Aren’t I here to learn from my mistakes, which I like to call lessons¬†by the way. Why do I care? Why am I so hard on myself? Who are you to make me feel like my work isn’t good enough? What does it mean? How do I¬†get past this?¬†

No person walking, crawling, riding, or however you get around on this earth, is perfect. Yet in still¬†humans try to behave as if we are. Judgmental little ‘FOCKERS’ at times.¬†Seems to me like the more insecure you are the meaner you are, in my humble opinion anyway. And the more you love yourself, the more you seem to¬†do way more for others than yourself at times. How does this work? What are you going to do?

I love <3. I move on. I give back. I brush past bullish. That’s what I’ll do. Always have, and always will.

As always…

Choices

Living in Philly, PA. has its fair share of good &¬†bad qualities. But that’s with every city, right? I mean it’s not really “bad” when your problem is trying to figure out which venue is The Most Beneficial for Your future to attend, or is it? And it doesn’t feel so good, when you’re not sure if you made the right choice or not. I mean let’s be honest, if you search or just keep an ear to the world, you’ll find out where almost everything that pertains to you is going¬†on. It’s¬†pretty cool that Philly¬†ALWAYS has something for you to¬†choose from to do on any given¬†day, no matter the season, nor time of day. Believe that!¬†The issue with choices are when you choose, you’re asking yourself questions like,¬†is this venue the place where I’ll get discovered? Should I have gone to that pop-up meeting for potential ‘place whatever’s appropriate here’? Maybe the event downtown is packed with way more connections than the one uptown. What do I do?

All good questions for sure, as well as¬†food for thought.¬†Although, in my humble opinion, I suggest that you forget all of those extra thoughts. Just pick¬†one &¬†go! Now¬†when you actually think about it, is it about¬†which event you choose to attend, or is it about¬†what you’re going to do when you arrive there? Because in today’s world being there isn’t enough anymore. What are you doing that is going to set you apart from the rest? How will the people remember you? What if you travel across town, and the event is full. Do you turn around, and take no for an answer? I suggest you absolutely DO NOT!

Yes, yes, yes, we¬†aware that we¬†face many choices that bombard us daily. The question is what¬†will You choose to do when the opportunity is sitting in your lap? While you think, I’ll¬†share with¬†you all what I chose this past Saturday, March 14, 2015 between 3 & 4:30pm…

Nordstrom King of Prussia Mall’s MEET & GREET with Steve Madden.

IMG_1365

How did I get here you ask? Simple, I heard about it on the radio¬†a couple of days earlier¬†and said I’m going to myself instantly that’s how! Lol.¬†The commercial also said that just for showing up, you would receive a tote bag & t-shirt. Participants could also win any pair of Steve¬†Madden shoes that Nordstrom had in store¬†just by filling out a raffle, there would be a DJ spinning on the one’s & two’s,¬†and to top it off Steve¬†Madden will autograph anything that you would like signed. WHAT! Who put this together? Steve Madden is looking more and more like a genius the longer this commercial plays. I¬†don’t know about any of you, but that commercial had me sold to this¬†event. See you there!

There was also a host. Did I forget to tell you all that there was also a host? Yup, Julissa Bermudez who was super friendly, professional, gorgeous, and an excellent host. Wearing Steve Madden’s Spring Collection of shoes, blue fringe look¬†GREAT on her!

The line was insane when I arrived.¬†Did everyone¬†hear the same commercial that I had, or where they all just out shopping on a Saturday and just happen to reap the benefits of being at the right place at the right time? No time to think about that now,¬†I need¬†to¬†find the line, get my tote bag, t-shirt, and¬†raffle ticket. I get to the¬†end of the line,¬†there I’m told that they’ve had more¬†people than expected¬†and that the cut off has begun.¬†I¬†won’t be able to receive a tote bag, nor a t-shirt, but I can still enter the¬†raffle. WHAT?!? I don’t only want a raffle, I came here for everything that the commercial said was available. *Deep Sigh* Is this happening right now? I was looking forward to this! This isn’t¬†happening¬†right now. It’s only 3:20pm, I have to take a walk. I go out of the store to sit down and collect my thoughts, all¬†the while¬†DJ had that store ROCKING! It seemed like it was a celebrity party, the only thing¬†missing was a bar.¬†I’ll take some pictures of my children, as I look into their eyes I quickly¬†get myself¬†together, and go back in. I’m here already,¬†I’ll take some pictures of what’s happening around the store. That will make for some good blog footage, right? I’ll see when I get home. Let’s go!

I’m back in the place, and FORGET ABOUT IT.¬†The¬†DJ Lady FX was playing all of the classic hits mixed in with some of the latest ones too. She’s been rocking since I walked in the door let me get some pictures of her! She was polite, awesome, beautiful, and the woman could mix. YES!

Wait a minute, where’s Steve? I can’t leave here without pictures of him! I’m walking around several times to get the right angle. People are blocking every shot, first when I was trying to get shots of the DJ, now with Steve.¬†I have to make my way closer. I feel the negative energy around, and there is no place for that in me today. Hey, where are Steve’s¬†shoes? I mean that is what this event is about, correct? I’ll manage to get both him & his shoes somehow. Where there’s a will, there’s a way! My way today.

My personal favorites are the black & white wedges. I’m a sucker for a chunky heel or wedges! They not only make me look taller, I feel that my legs & feet¬†respect my style choice for a day spent on my feet. ūüôā

And surely was I¬†on my feet. Moving around¬†mingling and taking photos.¬†In doing so, I¬†had the pleasure of meeting¬†wardrobe stylists Tye aka BernardBlainShow on Instagram. He actually styled the host’s (Julissa Bermudez) look for the MEET & GREET w/S. Madden. Nothing but good vibes from him, and I’m looking forward to what we’ll do together with fashion¬†in the near future. I’m excited, so stay tuned!

What an amazing time! I’m so glad, that my kiddos helped me put things back into perspective because this turned out pretty cool. OH! Did I mention that with my new outlook on the day¬†I received¬†the free¬†Steve Madden tote (which I got autographed),¬†¬†the t-shirt, and a picture.

Have to say ‘kinda’ in the words of Ice Cube, “Saturday was a good day!” I hope that you all enjoyed the post,¬†and that your weekend was as productive as possible.

What I’m wearing; Hat: Target, Knitted cardigan & Young men’s Denim pants: H&M, Button down Woven & Lace mix media¬†Woman’s shirt: MoCo_Sews,¬†Jacket & Shoes: Kohls

Click on any of the red links above if you would like to visit Steve Madden Shoes, Nordstrom, Julissa Bermudez, and the BernardBlainShow.

This was my personal experience for this past Saturday. I was not paid by anyone and have no affiliation with any of these companies or people. Just jotting down my day!

Despite all Odds

10[1]There’s something about tailored Menswear that just sends my heart¬†to a warm place.¬†It¬†sort of¬†feels like the¬†sun’s rays are¬†directly on my entire body. Sensations of¬†happiness, mixed in with drowsiness, because¬†sitting out long enough in the summer’s sun will do that to¬†one. Ironically, being in a relationship with a man has the same effect. Lol! ūüôā¬†Nevertheless, I¬†still can’t help¬†but continue to soak it all in, muscle through the pain that is sure to follow if I don’t get up soon. From a very early age, I remember looking at well-groomed adults and thinking, “They look really nice!” You know that “look” from the 40’s & 50’s, right? Sharp, clean, tailored, dresses, suits, suspenders, sweaters, and shoes. Ooh, wee! Never mind the fact that it was not an ideal time for anyone who was of color, or that¬†citizens had little to no say of their attire¬†because of¬†the way¬†“government”¬†subliminally had¬†the majority of say in¬†what you wore back¬†then. As I think about it, not too much has seemed to have changed. Although this is not the time for that conversation, but definitely the place! Take my hand, and let us¬†CONTINUE
